Dr. Canan Acar is a Chemical-Mechanical Engineer with over 15 years of expertise in Hydrogen Energy Systems, spanning four countries. She earned her Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Ontario Tech University and a Masters in Chemical Engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology.

Currently, Dr. Acar is a faculty member at the University of Twente, where she focuses on hydrogens role in the energy transition. Her work has earned her numerous awards, including the Governor-General of Canadas Gold Medal for Academic Excellence and the Outstanding Young Scientist Award from the Turkish Academy of Sciences.

Her research integrates renewable-based hydrogen energy systems, aiming to design adaptive, efficient, and resilient energy networks. By applying the principles of thermodynamics, Dr. Acar develops optimized decarbonization pathways, contributing to both theoretical understanding and practical applications.

Dr. Acar is committed to harnessing the potential of hydrogen in energy systems, striving for sustainable, circular, and resilient solutions. She is passionate about sharing her knowledge and inspiring innovation in sustainable energy.
