Overview

During the last decade, photocatalysis has witnessed an unprecedented resurrection in synthetic chemistry, which has led to the improvement of many known and to the development of new organic transformations. The combination of efficient and precisely tunable light sources, a braod variety of organo- and metal-based photocatalysts and a detailed understanding of the underlying concepts allows an facile entry into this area for experts and non-experts alike. Moreover, given the inexpensive LED light sources and the ability to conduct many photocatalyzed reactions in normal glasware allows to readily setup a photocatalysis unit at low cost.

The course will provide a comprehensive overview on current developments in photocatalysis, but at the same time provide practical guidance to enable participants to start research in this direction.
