The importance of a happy work environment

2020-04-01

Having a happy work environment brings many benefits, among them: creativity and innovation increases, as well as productivity, employees are more engaged and your company is more successful. But, how to do it?

  • Recognize your employees: one of the most common mistakes companies do is to give for granted their employees work. If it’s the employees’ responsibility… if that person has been hired to do it…why should we recognize that person’s work? Answer: because people can see that their work matters and that their efforts are noticed. A simple “Well done!” can make a big difference.
  • Emphasize more the positive: focus on your employees’ strengths instead of their shortcomings. And this includes turning mistakes into lessons. By making them reflect on what they can learn from that experience, you’ll achieve that the person grows and that the mistake is not repeated again. As well as a positive mindset will start to be generated among employees.
  • Promote balance between work and personal life: easy to say, hard to accomplish. Start by respecting your employees’ personal time by not bothering them. If they leave aside their personal life when working, it is fair that work is left aside after it’s done.
  • Try to do everything possible to make work fun! Smile is contagious, attracts people and promotes a great environment at work. Who doesn’t want to be there?

By doing this you can promote an environment where employees feel secure enough to speak up and communicate freely without worrying to be judged. And this means, that they can be themselves 100% and that they can have a sense of belonging to the company. Yes, diversity and inclusion will be more than words.
